Alone
Surrounded by friends who all say "I'm there,"
I know I'm part of a community of people who care.
I hang out with companions, what all teenagers do,
Yet I still get a feeling, a sensation that's new.
I'm in my own world, my own corner of a room,
My own state of mind in which shadows loom.
Just me on an island, or trapped in a net.
I'm in mental solitude, which makes me fret.
Seclusion of mind, yet not of my being
Causes me to feel like there's no friends I'm seeing.
No relationships are damaged, none need to be sewn.
Now I wonder why all I feel is so, so alone.
