October Air
Light of the world,
swept across by the brush of morn.
giving way to the serenity of night,
the sun glances one last time among the clouds,
that were painted in the vast sky in one stroke
the air pricks your skin with its frozen needle.
any lost bird, beckons others to fly south,
while the pumpkins eerily smile at the lone scarecrow.
no creature waited about in the grim forest,
full of gnarling branches oh so lifeless and bleak.
colliding in the sky by one single gust,
the light kisses the dark.
the shadowy haze engulfs the day in its slippery grasp.
the hallows moon slowly rises,
as an ornament among the stars.
as the moon grows fat and full,
its milky vision floods onto earth.
all is silent. All is still.
further enlarging as it consumes the sky,
the moon becomes heavy.
the small hours of the morning, elongate the moons’ labor.
soon, the autumn mist of daybreak blankets the ground,
as the moon plummets to land.
looming low in the horizon, two spheres meet
one held captive by darkness, the other, soul of the light.
as the dark fades, the light begins to creep,
while immersing the night in a breath of October air.
and thus, the cycle repeats
