The Painted's Lament
Their eyes are all cold…
distant, and scrutinizing.
Judgmental faces,
evaluating me.
Critical.
No, this isn't a smile.
Not anymore.
Maybe it was,
years ago...
But after ten lifetimes of
near adolescent scrutiny…
That smile is no longer mine.
It was a smile only for him!
But he's gone and has
abandoned me here.
Trapped forever,
Within a frame.
Judgmental faces,
distant and scrutinizing.
Their eyes are all cold.
