Seeds of Summer Love
If we stay still enough
maybe we’ll become part of this garden.
Sitting side by side
hand in hand
we can join the sunflowers, the lilies, the roses
in summer’s greenery
growing into one another
petals fanning out
inside your blue-gray eyes.
But summers end
and colors fade
into flaxen yellows
golden from the sun’s rays
becoming brittle
so easy to snap
