Who do I think I am?
Question starts with a q
then a u.
I have a q
then a u.
But they are in the middle.
The question seems to be
why the q and u?
Why couldn’t the ‘qu’ just be a g,
everyone thinks it’s a g anyway…
I mean it’s less steps
just one button
one continuous stroke of the pen.
And why so many letters?
Ten seems a bit much, don’t ya think?
My nickname is only four letters
but two are the same, so it doesn’t really count.
Anyway,
a name is a first impression
a heritage
a time period
a tease.
the q and u are such teases.
they give the essence of Europe
of France
of grandeur,
but not at all.

the grandeur
is all just my Dad’s imagination, really.
I guess Daddy thought Mara would be lonely.
I think Mara would have been just fine
but I think he was trying to be considerate.
Anyway
How often is the nickname thought of first?
How often is it the starting block?
A four letter name that needed some help.
And the help was European
was French
was grand.
Well European-ish
If a name is a first impression
then I’m a surprise, something you’ve never seen before,
unique.
If a name is a heritage
then I’m misleading,
not French but distantly Russian.
If my name was Russian
it would be all harsh consonants and fur hats for vowels.
If a name is a time period
than I’m about four hundred years past my prime
and if a name is a tease
well I disagree.
Maybe there’s a lot of confusion
but what you read is what you get.
