Lovely
Awkward, Selfish, Lazy
Stupid, Ugly, Gained Five Pounds
Just words, tossed around carelessly
But all add up to the same thing:
"Worth less"
Worthless.
My identity:
I see my reflection
In the eyes of those around me
Each reflection different.
Always flawed,
But the reflection in my own eyes,
Always worst.
Then one day, You looked at me
And spoke one word:
"Lovely."
Did I hear right?
Do You see the same Me
That I have to live with?
That day, when You looked at me
You saw all that junk
But You looked past it to see
Something
More
Inside.
Just maybe
You can help me
To forgive my own brokenness.
I want to look at Me through Your eyes
So I can turn around
So I can face a broken world and say,
"Lovely."
