It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

When you move on
To a new stage of life,
Do you give them a hug and kiss
Give them something to hold on to, to miss
Or instead do you cause them strife?

When you get married
And when you move out
Is it full of joy and tears?
Or full of anger and jeers?
Does your parting fill you with doubt?

That parting cannot be redone
Cannot be taken back
What do you leave behind?
The last thing in their mind
To get them back on track?

Letting go is inevitable
That’s one thing for sure
But how you do it, that’s the thing
Do really want to leave them hanging on a string?
Are your intentions are pure?

This just a warning,
There’s no oppressive threat
Just make sure you do it right
Make their lives a little bright
And leave with no regret.

I got the inspiration for this poem from another poem titled, "Angela". Part of this poem actually came from my comment on it.

You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.
