Another Pond
Why did I ever let you go?
I couldn't see what was right in front of me.
You loved me for me.
Why was that so difficult for me to understand?
Then one day it was over,
And it was all my fault.
You once compared me to a river,
Giving you life, turning you green.
But I guess I was more like a pond.
A pond that dried up too soon.
We had our misunderstandings,
We misjudged each other.
I considered the fact that you didn't love me.
You told me that I had my head in the clouds,
And that I was crazy.
Yet everyday, I felt it.
I felt that you were like an animal.
One that could find another river,
Or another pond.
So instead of waiting for you to wonder away,
I evaporated,
To search elsewhere for a creature that needed me.
A creature who had so much less,
Who would simply cease to exist without me.
But this creature does not exist.
You were the only one that needed me,
The only one that wanted me.
Now i sit,
Shallow and dark,
Like a swamp.
