Running, running
I can’t catch my breath
My lungs beg for air
My legs are like Jell-O wiggling now
My feet screech for rest
But I know I must move on
I have to keep going
I have no choice but to win this race
If I lose, my run is over
I can’t replay it this time
They cannot catch me now
My tongue dries more every second
My body weakens every moment
I hear the beats of feet just behind me
I know it’s almost over
But I need to keep going
I cross the field and collapse
My legs gave out when I needed them most
Two of them attack me
They wrestle me with cuffs
I lost the race this time
