One Day
Yesterday, I lost time.
It sprinted away from me in neon light-up sneakers
And I ran the race,
But didn’t win.
I created something beautiful.
I devoted pain to art, and danced for only myself.
Immersed in supreme pleasure, I strained each muscle,
Reaching for perfection contrary to realism,
And truly lived.
I was torn away, and I startled
Back into the world.
My words escaped me, and
Trampled and trounced and trashed.
I’m sorry.
I looked for the moon, and found it
In the sky.
Why can’t I belong up there? Free
Like a firefly, sweet
Like a cherry popsicle, beautiful
Like Easter lilies, strong
Like jazz trumpets, loved
Like eternal summer.
In the shower, I washed the day
Down the drain.
I scrubbed and bubbled away,
Until I could see myself again.
A frothy fluffy towel absorbed droplets off my skin,
And I slipped under smooth, cool sheets,
Wishing for tomorrow to come.

I am like a star burst. A juicy contradiction. I'm hard to figure out, but when you get to my center, your suprised! It's not what you thought it would be, huh.
