I Will Hope

Crisis. Catastrophe. Chaos.
I am unsure what will happen. But I know
to trust.
I’m not certain what happened to me.
All I understand is that I was flying down the streets, air blowing in my hair. Then
CRASH.
My world stopped. All went black.
I tremble on the inside, I cannot tremble on the outside, but I know
To trust.
And I will… trust those who
Are crying
Are praying
Are helping
And are hoping for me.
This gives me courage to hope too.
I see the helicopter, like tangible hope rising in the east. Help is coming soon.
Just hold on. I will make it… I must, for all those around me I will hold on.
Forget the pain, just focus on the hope, and the trust, and the love.
For, tomorrow will come and be a better day.
The sun will rise again
Bringing new hope.

The author's comments:
While volunteering at my local hospital, I witnessed firsthand the medical personnel's urgency and concern as they attempted to save the life of a victim of a motorcycle accident. I was so touched by their act of service, as well as the groups of people I saw praying, that I just had to express the passion of silent prayer and plea that all whispered that day: one of hope.

thanks... I tried free verse poetry for a change... I wrote this and "Ultimate Hope" at the same time, and they both are like my best, I think.

Wow, what a powerful poem!  I have to agree with you; this might be one of your best.  I like the structure of it.  It's disjointed here and there, like the conscious thoughts going through the person's mind.  It's very creative.

thanks! I was referring to the people around me who are just there to support me. It's so moving how people try to save lives... very inspiring!

Lots of emotion packed into this one. Good description and good flow.

I like this part the best "And I will...trust those who
Are crying
Are praying
Are helping"
