I knew a girl
I knew a girl
As pretty as can be
Her long blond hair
Flowing like a golden sea
We laughed,
We smiled,
We talked,
But never about that one thing
We skirted around it
Like bystanders to a fight
Never trusting to get involved
And while we flitted ever near
We veered away,
I to shy to cross that mere
So we sat,
Flirting away
None of us able to touch the subject
Her for embarrassment, me for fear
Because if we do cross that mere
What we have now,
Will be lost forever,
I’d do anything to preserve what I have
Knowing this girl,
As pretty as can be
