Spinning Gold
I used to be a traveler
In the realm of my backyard
Scaling towers made of trees
I shot arrows at the stars
Gathering stones for souvenirs
I crawled along desert plains
Searching for a hint of water
Worshipping rivers made of rain
There were castles that I built
Along mountains made of sand
The blushing fern of autumn
Twirled with me in the wind
But now I watch and listen
Instead of dream and play
This cold rock of reality
Keeps guard on me all day
I hear the sky turn crimson
I feel the world spin gold
Instead of dancing with it
I watch with a coward’s soul
You there with the infinite eyes
How do you dance with fireflies?
How do you let the world pass by,
And forget that it takes wings to fly?
