Innocence
Innocence is once given to us,
But lost in the folds of time,
Tucked between adolescence and teenage years,
Perhaps waiting to be found again,
It was lost,
Maybe when I first caught sight of rebellion,
Its mouth smoking,
Its ears clogged with gossip,
Its eyes seeing the once forbidden,
Or maybe when I had to leave,
No longer bottling up the secrets,
But breaking down,
Like sugar molecules in chemistry class,
And running away from her,
Like Forrest Gump,
After he was fed up with the negativity.
