Spring Memories

Stepping outside, standing in the sunshine,
Listening to the songs of the birds,
Taking a first look at the blossoming flowers,
Smelling the sweet scent of the air,
On the warm, spring morning.

The energetic children ran through the open grassy field,
As they raced to the tennis court,
Then dashed off to climb the apple tree,
Where they each picked a crisp green apple,
Each crunch breaking the silence between them.

Honeydew, kiwi, and grapes, all ripe and vibrant in color,
Thrown together for an evening snack,
As the setting sun slowly approached the horizon,
The emerald green forest was emphasized by the rich colors filling the sky,
And as the nightfall approached,
The lively green earth was buried in the darkness.

This poem was written around the color green and things and events that remind me of that color.
