Lilac
I remember
picnics in the park
behind a line of trees
in a hidden little field
that was
swimming with purple.
I remember
chasing you
through the
purple flowers
and the
intoxicating scent
of lilac
in your hair
after I caught you
and pulled you
down on top
of me.
I remember
you putting a
lilac in my hair
and when I
began to protest
you kissed me, and
I remember
thinking how
absolutely worth it,
it was.
