if you didn't owe me a slow dance
if you didn't owe me a slow dance,
i might just have given up.
if you weren't my best friend,
even though we don't talk so much anymore,
and even though i wonder if we really are anymore,
i wouldn't give a damn about how happy i was when you called.
if you had never kissed me,
the time on the stairs,
i wouldn't want it again.
if you hadn't said you needed me,
i would have been there anyway,
but it would have been easier to let you go.
but,
if you didn't owe me a slow dance,
actually- two, slow dances...
i wouldn't have stuck around to collect
even when i was wiping my slate clean.
you're the spot i missed..
on purpose.
