I have a Voice
Voice
A sound,
An opinion,
A statement of who I am.
Who are you to decide what I can and cannot say?
Who are you to silence my thoughts?
You cannot keep me here forever,
Silent,
Obedient,
Waiting for orders that only bring me pain.
You tell me to forget,
Never to speak of what I know,
But who are YOU to stop me?
I have a voice.
Hear my scream,
My whisper...
It wasn’t always this way was it?
This feeling of fear that fills my heart,
That you read in my eyes...
You cannot keep me here forever,
Filled with this dark,
And this cold…
I will escape,
One day,
And you won’t find me,
Silent,
Obedient,
Waiting for orders that only bring me pain.
I will not forget.
I will not be quiet.
One day,
I will be heard,
For I have a voice.
