You say that I saved you.
I was a guiding light.
I lead you from the dark.
But dear, you've got it backwards.
You were the light, not I.
And if you hadn't come along,
I don't know where I'de be now.
Baby, you had it backwards.
I remember when the darkness came.
It hovered over me like death.
I was lost and all alone.
See? You've got it backwards.
It was a time of sorrow.
I cried a lot in the dark.
Sitting alone in the corner.
My sweet, you had it backwards.
Then, one day I opened my eyes.
And like a lighthouse in a storm,
There you were, with open arms.
Love, you've got it backwards.
It was hard, but you pulled me out of the darkness.
With your loving arms around me, holding me tight,
What had seemed like an eternal darkness, was really just one bad night.
All this time, you had it backwards.
I am alive again, with no fears.
The darkness that once consumed me is the fule that keeps me going.
And you're the motor that keeps chugging me along.
You took my life, and flipped it backwards.
