Don't Give In
Don’t give in
When the world crashed
Underneath your feet
Stand your ground
And don’t allow
The foolishness of others
Overwhelm the intelligence
Within you.
Keep a deck of cards on the line
So that if a queen of spades may be played
Your king of hearts will rise to power.
Be vulnerable
To the pain induced by rocks
Thrown at your shins
Instead of words whispered
By the hollow-hearted.
Swing open your window,
Invite in the cool breeze,
Let your hair be lifted from your shoulders
Let nature guide your path
Along a twisted road of bravery
And when the world crashed around you
Be the one who stands strong,
The one who doesn’t give in.
