Pin cushion

Needles pushing deeper in.
Treating my heart like a pin cushion.
Running as soon as they seem to care.
Always scared they really won’t in the end.
You can only be hurt so many times before you can no longer trust.
Before you start scampering away when you realize you’ve crossed that line.
The line that stops you from feeling.
Warning signs go off once you’ve forgotten.
& you’re stabbed once again.
A swift reminder of the past.
A swift reminder of why you must flee.
A swift reminder of why you can NEVER let anyone get too close.
