"When you see a mountain do you see a challenge, or a change of heart?"- me, 2010

Form of smoke
Heart of fire
A demon bird
Flying higher

Eyes are perfect
Hearing sharp
Cry as beautiful
As the music of a harp

Gossamer feathers
Wings of ash
Trailing higher
The forming winds clash

Allure of the sun
Flying higher risking death
Bird of innocence
Can almost feel sun's breath

Too close now it comes
He bursts into flames
The phoenix is no more
He will play no more games

But rising from the ashes
The phoenix now stands
Forever searching
For new, foreign lands

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece just to use one of our vocab words: gossamer. It turned out to be this poem. This is the first draft so if there are any improvements please leave comments for revision if possible. I suppose the point of this is to describe the beauty and grace of this glorified mythical bird. Hope you liked it :)
