A Country Morning

The morning sky lights up

With gold, blue, pink, orange

I feel the peace only here in the country

The plants seem to shake off the frigid night we’ve had

As they straighten their stiffly bent backs

To drink in the warmth of the returning sun

Singing birds welcome the start of a new day

And as I crack open the cottage window

Beautiful country air fills my lungs

I let the cool country breeze flow quietly over my shoulders

And through my wavy hair

This was inspired by my uncles' cabin that I must have stayed in about a million times one summer. I love plants and animals and just get peace from being around God's creation in its pretty-close-to-unaltered form. The country and its scenery just hold so much beauty, joy, and inspiration for me. I love being completely surrounded by nature. Just like the Bible says, God's glory can be seen all around in what He's put here on Earth.
