A dog's love
I have cried on my dog’s shoulder.
The nights I feel alone and lost she is always there for me.
When I feel there is no one I can talk to, she listens.
As tears leak down my face, she laps them away.
Her touch is serene and gentle, showing me her faithfulness.
As I look at her face I see streaks in her brown fur,
and I wonder if they are her tears or mine.
I wipe our faces clean and help her onto my high standing bed.
She climbs in under the warm covers and cuddles with me,
and we spend the night in each others embraces.
The thoughts and pain still remain,
but is dulled by the shear love of by beloved dog.
