i used to be

I used to be a dark blue
Full of gloom and hatred
But now I am a bright, shiny yellow
Full of passion and joy

I used to be scratched up sneakers
Stepping with uncertainty
But now I am brand new sneakers
With pride in every step

I used to be a polluted river
Not able to see through the top layer
But now I am a clear river
Able to see rays of sun shine to the rocky bottom

I used to be impatient
But now I have learned
Good things come to those who wait
