What you used to be...
You walked down the street looking at the objects that made you move
Running into walls, doors, signs, and trees was an everyday thing
I would laugh and ask if your feet were going to run off without you
I used to know you...
Together we would stay up late waiting for Santa to come
Adjusting our little mirror to see into the living room, we would wait
Soon our minds would slowly drift into the unknown world of sleep
I knew you would be there in the morning to shake me all the way to the living room
I used to know you…
Six years is a big age difference
But you were always my best friend
I don’t know what I would do without you
I used to know you…
But now I know what it’s like to not have a sister around
You’re not there to wake me up on Christmas, or even there on Easter
It’s now my job to give my brother the experiences you gave me
I used to know you…
You’re gone, but not in a good place
I worry about you every day and just want you back home
I want the big sister I love
I still know you…
