Candle may wane, yet
Flame to still remain

Grieve, but remember:
Resurrect not body but soul,
That which lives on,
gold.

For she dies, permanent, truly,
Only when her words lose their meaning.

The author's comments:
This is a quick poem in response to a presentation about Rachel Joy Scott, one of the victims of the Columbine massacre of 1999. More specifically, this poem responds to those who were in tears after the moving speech by Rachel's father.
