To see how far we've come,
we have to flash back to when we were young,
how about,
you tell me what's different now,
technology is a crutch,
holding us up,
love is handed out too easily,
saying it isn't something,
on the horizon are less trees,
do you think skyscrapers are pretty?
money is more important than anything,
too bad debt is rising,
light pollution blacks that stars,
but we're too busy thinking of ourselves to care what's out there,
people are fat and mean and cruel,
all we do is abuse,
we're running out of natural resources,
our hate leads towards war,
no one cares anymore,
our country's scars are still sore,
lives go by,
people die,
this is our world now,
very slowly spinning out.

Favorite Quote:
"Don't punish yourself," she heard her say again, but there would be punishment and pain, and there would be happiness too. That was writing."
--Markus Zusak, "The Book Thief"

This is really good! I like the rhymes here, and I liked how you used some slant rhymes too. You seem to like to rhyme the way I do, with only some at the end but not as much in the beginning and middle. I like your style!
