Species-ism
I was once your cute puppy,
Born finally! At last!
But now I can see,
Those good times have past.
You push me you kick me,
And then you just laugh.
You curse me, whip me
Never give me a bath.
You locked me in this cage,
With no room to move.
You ignore me, I’m dying,
What do I have to prove?
I am still a small puppy,
Only four days old.
I want out of here,
To be astray, caught, and sold.
I did not think
You could hurt me this bad.
When I met you
I was glad I could trust a young lad.
I did not know
I’d be locked up in here,
This cage as my bath room,
A hole in my ear.
And, I’ve gone without food,
For how many days now?
Okay, I’ll be honest,
I’m not a puppy, I’m only a cow.
But should it really matter,
What animal is behind the bar?
Black white or green,
You’re a speciesist. You are.
