Sins of Our Fathers
We live our lives
In the shadow cast
By the sins of our fathers.
Damned before the day
Has dawned
We walk in the darkness of their choices
And oh, the day is so long,
When there is no sun
To bear the weight
The darkness sprung
And oh, how our lives
Are mourned or praised
All depending
On which side the shadow lays.
Stalked by a life
Made not in our own name;
Shackled to an image
Of not our own frame.
And so trapped we shall remain
Until we break away
From the sins
Our fathers have made.
