Swingset
I’m running
Though I don’t know where I am going
I still strive on
For it is right in front of me
I jump into the air and am caught by the swing beneath me
I am here
Silence washes over me
Alone at last
I have time to think
I begin to kick my legs forcefully and I rise
Higher
Higher
Higher into the light blue patches of the sky
For I am a kid again
I’m sitting here looking up at the sky,
I then lay down in wet grass, absorbing the water into my old raggedy t-shirt
Chills run up my spine
I look at my pale white skin and boney arms
I get up weakly
I pull up my socks make sure my shoe laces are in their secure double knots and I take off
My hair brushes against my face as my feet hit the hard black asphalt road
Sun beats down on my face
While the sweat drips off my nose and into my mouth
For I am running
Though I don’t know where I am going
But, I soon hope to be back again
