You\'re not your job. You\'re not how much money you have in the bank. You\'re not the car you drive. You\'re not the contents of your wallet. You\'re not your f***ing khakis. You\'re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. - Fight Club

Once Upon a Time,

the world was different

What seems like trouble, was brushed away,

in careless games, that came each day

Once Upon a Time, we all had dreams,

Dreams we would never, ever let go.

When no one believed us, when no one cared

They kept us going, we showed no despair.

Once Upon a Time, like a butterfly's wings,

we cherished each moment, we never looked back.

Once Upon a Time, like a passing song,

we watched it slip, watched it go.

In a land of magic,

I remember laughing, I remember crying.

Once Upon a Time, I remember not knowing

not knowing that one day I'd look back

And then I'd remember,

Remember and wonder,

how quickly this life, took away what was then,

how I woke up, woke up a little each day,

and how one day Once Upon a Time,

had left me and gone.

"il piu nell' uno," (according to Emerson, an Italian expression for beauty)

"Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality" ~Emily Dickinson

"The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain"
~Kahlil Gibran

This is simply beautiful... and wonderful... and all synonyms of those two words! It has the sad beauty of a memory of a happy moment, that went away. It's really well written and blended with emotion. The last two lines are my favorite.
