"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter." -- E.E. Cummings

Tonight, it is waking
Tonight
The moon is distended and glowing.
It expands
with fleeting but impressive beauty.
It beads
like a full pearl of sweat
On the smooth marble
Darkness of the earth’s brow.
After tonight
The moon can only grow smaller
Slowly slicing away
Its girth
Like a ripe opal fruit.
How many animal eyes
Look up at the luminous moon tonight?
This night that the moon
Traces the folds of the
Heavenly blue quilt,
With soft magnetic limbs.
