If Heaven Had A Phone
I look to the sky, close my eyes, and pray.
I pray for my family waiting for me
In the ultimate paradise: heaven.
Sometimes I think life
Would be easier if heaven had a phone.
I could call loved ones who’ve passed
And ask how they are.
I could even get to know those gone
Since before I remember and beyond.
I could get a fresh perspective on life
And the problems it brings.
But I’m looking for something different;
I just want to hear their voices.
To have someone always there for me,
Someone who’s been through similar situations.
To have someone who would love me unconditionally,
No matter what I did or said.
That’s all I really want.
To know that there would always be someone to listen.
Someone to help me forget my problems,
Even if only for a moment of two.
When it’s time for me
To be reunited with loved ones waiting for me,
It wouldn’t feel different,
The only thing would be that I could see them every day.
