"The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one."
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light."

Make a wish…

I wish I was one
So I could discover everything
For the first time

I wish I was two
So I could do what I wanted
Without getting in too much trouble

I wish I was three
So I could be young and innocent
And not know all the troubles of life

I wish I was four
So I could be happy all the time
Instead of just now and then

I wish I was five
So everything could be
The biggest thing in the world

I wish I was six
So I could learn how to make friends
And not make the same mistakes

I wish I was seven
So I could learn how to write stories again
And make use of my endless imagination

I wish I was eight
So I could take all my passions
And use them to help, not hurt

I wish I was nine
So I could realize just how important
The opportunity I had was

I wish I was ten
So I could end everything that ruined me
Before it did

I wish I was eleven
So I could be conceited and self-centered
And stupid- and still love myself

I wish I was twelve
So I could learn about love and friendship again
But not the dark side of life

I wish I was thirteen
So I could learn how to discover myself
For the first time

But now that I’m fourteen
I wish to put the past behind
And have the most memorable year
Out of fourteen years of life.

…blow out the candles.

Every year, you realize just how important the last year was. This is a kind-of cutesy little poem about what I thought about on my fourteenth birthday.

Writers are a less dangerous version of the career criminal. Everywhere they go, they see the potential for the perfect crime. The difference is that writers have better self control.

Number 11 makes me smile. It's so true.

This is so sweet and so good, Esi. My favorite so far. :)
