There amidst the pallets and cloth,
He stands each evening
Waiting for not a soul
In the trodden streets
Only once in his lifetime will a passer-by
Take notice,
As soon arms do grope and hold
And eyes give way to conflagration
And the two pledge eternal devotion
For one precious evening

Metaphorically based on a personal experience, both inside and out of the borders of Montmartre, and inspired by the wonders of once-in-a-lifetime happenings.
