Nothing But Black Streaks

one day
one day can change a childhood
bike rides in the humid Minnesota air
baking in the beating sun
doing each others hair
together for heartbreak and the fall
together for loss and gain
you were there for it all
but now the slate is clean
no memories
nothing but black streaks
no talking
no looking
maybe a glance or a stare
frantically searching
for what used to be there.
