Deep End
These tears of mine that stain this paper
Wherever, wherever, wherever
Sweet young mind now crushed and tapered
What cruel fate inside forever
You, at fatal war within
Watching, screaming, sorrow-clad
But you had so little sin
Little reason to be sad
It is not a weight you hold alone
You could have let it go
What misery had slept and grown
So ultimate and slow
There are no footsteps at my door
Nor birdsong in the morn
Just my teardrops on the floor
With the pictures you had torn
Poor old friend, in summer trapped
Such a bitter ring
Of sorrow and of her untapped
Potential, fragile thing
Sweet memory, just twisted, lost
Caught in a blinding flare
During final, biting frost
If only I had been there
What I would give
One glance at smile
Bright blue eyes, forgive
My foolish ways and trial
Freedom-somewhere, you are singing
Just thrown into the fire
What golden bells first tolled, now ringing
May your spirit rest up higher
