Monster
A monster came without a sound
And turned my world upside down
The monster wore the best disguise
And covered its tracks with amazing lies
It came in and ripped my heart
Ripped and tore my soul apart
Took away my trust and love
Took the life I was dreaming of
The monster made me cry
When I’d never shed a tear
The monster made me terrified
Of things I’d never fear
It captured my mind and thoughts alike
It took my deepest dreams
It took away my wrong and right
Left me broken at the seams
Then this monster slipped away
And I thank God it didn’t stay
But through the rubble, I could see
This horrible monster had been me
