A wanderluster journeying along

the highway may encounter

monsters ambling by

Beasts not of fangs nor fur,

but of metal
Sleepy creatures

They rumble and hum as they

drowsily forge ahead, plowing through

both the driving rain and violent gusts that

force the lashes of the flatlands to stand on edge

Humble voyagers may quiver at the realization that they roll within proximity

of those who terrorize the pavement ,

but on they press with thoughts of unexplored territory congesting their windshields

Littler travelers swarm between the patchworks of steel,

designing a tapestry of peril, remaining contently unaware of the chances

of being crushed before the destination is reached

I wrote this in the car during a ten hour road trip, amazed by the immensity of the trucks whizzing by.
