Daughter to Mother
I’ll tell ya this, ma
Life for me aint been no coaster ride
It’s had bumps
An’ rattles, and shakin’
An’ tiltin’
An’ drops where there aint’ve been—
Dangerous
But through this hell
I been a-ridin’
An holdin’ on
Clingin’ to the bars an bearin’ through
There been times the power cut
And we was left up all alone
An chill’d in open cold
So don’t get off, ma
Don’t ya leave jus yet
‘Cause I’se still here,
I’se still a-ridin’
And life for me aint been no coaster ride
