That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the task itself has become easier, but that our ability to perform it has improved.

I zip up my dress
And put on my shoes
I wait and wait
But where are you?

I want to be mad
You’ve never stood me up; true
I’ve always been around
But where are you?

My phone rings
There’s been a wreck. Involving who?
Why’d they call me?
Where are you?

I survey the damage
A tear falls. Maybe two.
I see classmates all dressed up, crying
But where are you?

My hands stay empty
As my body moves
I twirl around and around
But where are you?

This poem came to me in the middle of the night and brought tears to my eyes. And actually, the last verse cam first.

i love how the last stanza came first, because it really shows the emotion. it was the truest meaning in the poem, and you built up on it. great poem!
