A single blade of grass
Wound around your finger
The simplest images fill your pupils
Dipped in milk-white
Of the dappled, sunset sky
Setting ever so slowly
The yearning is drawing closer
And when the wind blows your hair
Seeping into your heart
You know it is only a moment in time
When the sun will lay its head down
Weeping like an old willow tree
The sky will blaze like an amethyst gem stone
Searing with shining points of light
The world will be dimmed
And you will smile
As your supple-feathered angel wings grow
They will burst from beneath your clothing
And you will rise, your mottled bow with the single scarlet plume tied to your back
Then to sail through the glistening Milky Way
Over the stars
Over the sparkling yellow stars
And although the Gods will curse you
Although your tail whip airstream will move the sleepy, luminary- dusted planets
You will be happy
Until the stroke of the old grandfather clock calls you back to Earth
Until the sweeping tide of sunlight washes over the night
And your contentment will fade away entirely
As you are once again grounded by your flesh anchor
A caged bird that quivers
Imprisoned
It will scare you
And you will scream as your branched wings welt and crumble
Feathers tumbling down like dead leaves
Skittering over the purple moor
Your sparkling tears will quench the desiccated dirt
As I thrust a golden harpoon down from the buttery clouds
Because you shall not be heartrending anymore
It will pierce you through the chest
Stopping your tears
Lifting you up
Into the cerulean sky, white puff -dotted billows
To me
And you will take to the air once again
No longer shackled by time
