Enormous shrubs adorned with candy roses
That stretch from left to right like
The horizon

There’s a rabbit hole hallway between the monstrous bushes
That could lead to either Wonderland or dark eternity
With ceilings decorated with skeleton branches
And chandeliers of wild berry bunches
Floors of cool dirt

I crawl on bare skin until my reddish peach turns to earthy brown
Time dissolves into the soil walls to mingle with earth worms
And my imagination hovers like mist
In the never-ending tunnel

I stay there for three drawn out days and three lingering nights
Accompanied by people of sun-chariot gold skin
And by furry creatures of great sizes
And Chinese dragons

Soon I return home to the same reality I had deserted
I feed on real food and talked with real people
But can never seem to forget
That secret place.

Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.

One of my favorite pieces of poetry...no, literature I've seen on this site.  The way you describe and the adjectives you use is very gothic (the literacy term not the pale with black everything) and romantic (again the literacy term).  I love it.  So much it's going on my favorites.  Keep writing and producing fabulous work, ♥Rae
