Bazaar Sunday
The sweet aroma of honey cradles my nostrils
as I take deep, slow breaths of the fresh, open air.
Looking from left to right I can see stands
extending to the horizon.
Fresh fruit sits at every table,
raspberries, cherries, bananas - ripened to perfection.
The burning sun turns our skin to leather
but no one complains with all of the shade.
It's nearly impossible to name my favorite part,
but if I had to choose; it'd be my father's face,
as it brightens with delight
when I ask him for the newest book to read.
The day is perfect, and with just half of the sun still burning, night falls
and the streets fall silent.
