Smiles
You sit in a fold up chair
On the side of the gym
You watch the others
Dancing, talking, laughing
Your best friend is out there
You’re over here
The slow song ends
A fast one starts
Your best friend comes
And makes you dance with her
You have so much fun
Until the song ends and another guy
Asks her to dance
No one approaches you
Soon the last dance comes
You and your best friend
Walk across the dance floor
A dark haired guy catches your eye
“Go ask him to dance,” she says
You walk towards him
Your eyes lock
“Wanna dance?”he asks
Before you can even open your mouth
“Sure,” you reply
You talk for awhile and finally
Ask his name
“Nick,” he answers
You tell him yours
“That’s a pretty name”
You smile
He smiles
