Eight Quarters of an Orange
Heavy skin and bursting veins
With globules of vibrancy beneath
Sadness thwarts visibility
As I forget to breathe
Tangy tastes sour on the tongue
As kisses surface wonderingly
Fingernails glow dirtily
And skin breaks away to blades
But no one whispers goodbye
To shavings of old thoughts
While mine form curlicues
Constantly rebounding
Against heavy skin,
Bursting veins, globules of vibrancy
Waiting for the second orange
