An Inescapable Shell

The waves had settled and groaned
Under the crumbly blanket
Of rubble and homes,
The darkness of the night
Had escaped its usual scope
It had sedated the furious, hopeless
And trembling apprehension
Of an accidental destiny
Of generations passed
Enfants, où êtes-vous?
I hope my blindness ends at dawn
