The Gnat
Gnat is what she’s called
She floats around pretending to do no harm
Lingers in the air dauntlessly
But as soon as your eyes sway shut
And your mouth falls wide
She dives inside and stings
She stings right into the very core
Gnaws off veins
Sporadically splits apart nerves
Gets into your brain
She makes you stand before her with no response
None at all
Just hold back the tears she struggles to see
The ones she won’t ever understand
Because she has no inside
Just a sack of blood
Blood from the children she destroys
The ones she can care less about
The ones that she will soon never forget
For as we unite together
Joining the parts she razed so carelessly
We become one
And we
Will show that gnat
That she was wrong
