When I was young
When I was younger I always felt that my parents loved each other
When I was younger I thought they would always be together
Like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
I guessed that we’d be together for forever
His was my dad and she was my mom
I was a child back then
Young, absent-minded, self fish,
It’s been threes years since daddy left suddenly at night
I went into mom’s room and she was crying
I hugged her and you know what I said “daddy probably went to buy me a toy mommy, don’t worry he
Be back”...
I said it proudly too confident
But I was a child
Absent-minded
Didn’t know that daddy and mommy were as they said” taking a break from another”
I believed it too
Just like how mommy would say Santa’s coming to town
Just like how I’d put my tooth under my pillow for the tooth fairy
When you’re a child you believe everything…
